The Mat Su Borough Assembly will address this legislation in February 2011.   There will be a public hearing and we will post information soon.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is in the process of revising existing borough regulations for telecommunications towers, wind energy conversion systems, and other tall structures.  The updated regulations are intended to increase compliance with federal regulations, clarify the permitting process for tall structures, encourage collocation of telecommunications antennas, and protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the public.

A hard copy of the draft is available to review at the Planning and Land Use Division office.  If you have any comments or questions regarding the draft tall structures ordinance, please contact Alex Strawn by phone at (907) 745-9854, or by email at planning@matsugov.us This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. JONESVILLE COAL MINE PERMIT - SUTTON

There will be a meeting with the DNR Mining permit staff and Black Range Alaska Minerals in late January.  We will post more information when we get it.

The comment period is closed and the permit is under review. For more information contact Russell Kirkham at the email/phone # below.

The mine is located approximately 11 miles northeast of Palmer. The mining area is approximately 2 miles northwest of Sutton near the southeast portion of Wishbone Hill. This request is to renew the existing permit for an additional five-year term. There are no changes or modifications to the operation and reclamation plans that have been proposed which would significantly alter the previously approved permit. For more information or to submit comments, contact Russell Kirkham by fax at (907) 269-8930 or email Russell.kirkham@alaska.gov.

Hatcher Pass Management Plan “Adopted”

Hatcher's Pass Feb. 2010

Publish Date: 11/24/2010
The Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) adopted the Hatcher Pass Management Plan on November 17, 2010. The Land Classification Order No. SC-09-003 and Mineral Closing Order No. 1107, which implement the plan, have also been adopted. This plan affects 294,919 acres of state land.

The final plan consists of the Public Review Draft (PRD), which was distributed in March 2010, and a list of the Approved Revisions to the PRD. The list of Approved Revisions is derived from the Issue Response Summary, which is a document that addresses the issues identified through public and agency comments and provides recommendations for revisions to the plan where appropriate. Only the recommended revisions to the draft plan are contained in the list of Approved Revisions. The PRD, Issue Response Summary and Approved Revisions are available online on the DNR webpage at: http://dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/planning.
