Mission:
Friends of Mat-Su (FoMS) provides land use information, advocates for borough wide planning, promotes citizen involvement and offers tools and support to develop a healthy and vibrant community.
Our Members:
Our Members represent people from every community in the Matanuska and Susitna valleys. They are looking at the present and the future with vision and intelligence in how our borough develops. Our members share a love of their homes and families. They value the uniqueness and diversity of our borough. They want to see our respective communities grow in a vital and prosperous manner that creates opportunities to exist in a health and sustainable way. Our Plan of Action:
- Identify and research critical land use issues in the Mat-Su
- Provide information to residents, policy makers, organizations and interested parties
- Promote citizen involvement in the planning process for the Mat-Su Valley at the local, regional and state levels
- Support local government’s implementation of the community’s vision for land use
- Monitor the important balance between present and future use of our resources
- Advocate for compatible land use borough wide
